A new book by Moshe Feldenkrais entitled Embodied Wisdom: The Collected
Papers of Moshe Feldenkrais (North Atlantic Books) has been published.
The collection includes all of Feldenkrais’s English language articles
and interviews and is a must-have for Feldenkrais® enthusiasts. The
articles span a period between 1965 to Feldenkrais’s death in 1984.
The book was carefully edited by Elizabeth Beringer and contains some of
Feldenkrais’s most concise and accessible writings. David Zemach-Bersin
has written an inviting foreword that helps make the book a wonderful
introduction to the Method®. The volume contains something for everyone,
with articles relating to the theater, martial arts, learning, awareness
and consciousness, and with in-depth discussions of the Method.
From the editor’s intro: “Taken
together, the articles and interviews become greater than the sum of
their parts, forming a diverse and textured whole. The text offers many
different points of entry for those unfamiliar with Feldenkrais’s ideas
and at the same time provides plenty of territory for in-depth study for
the serious student of Feldenkrais’s work.”
From the foreword: “I hope that
the publication of this important and long overdue book will help bring
his uniquely original and innovative ideas the recognition and the
critical analysis they so deserve, and that readers will appreciate this
small volume, which is so large in outlook and vision.”
